Suspended between the Foglia and Conca valleys, perched on a hilltop, rises the Castle of Macerata Feltria, the silent sentinel of a village that has transformed its shadows into living history.
Its origins are woven between legends and written records: around the 6th century, after the destruction of the ancient Roman municipality of Pitinum Pisaurense, a fortified settlement was built on the same hill, destined to shape the fate of the Montefeltro region. The oldest core dates back to the Middle Ages (11th–12th century), with its network of walls, towers, and gateways that still today reveal the defensive soul of the village.
The Palazzo del Podestà, located within the castle walls, is from the same period and has been transformed into a museum, safeguarding the archaeological and paleontological artefacts unearthed in the surrounding area.
The Civic Tower, proud and solemn, rises against the sky; together with the Palazzo del Podestà, it forms a harmonious image of balance between civic authority and the spiritual life of the community.
Mu.Mont invites you to climb to the top, where the castle welcomes you not only as a monument, but as a place of connection, with the land, with time, and with those who lived, defended, or simply loved this place. It is a window onto the history of Montefeltro and an invitation to breathe in the past while looking at the present with new eyes.
