In the heart of Montefeltro, among trails that climb the hillsides and woods that breathe in silence, there is a place where nature still speaks with a clear voice: the Interregional Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello, a protected area suspended between the Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions.

It is a living landscape, stretching across almost 5,000 hectares between the provinces of Pesaro–Urbino and Rimini, touching six municipalities (Carpegna, Frontino, Pietrarubbia, Piandimeleto, Montecopiolo, and Pennabilli) and embracing valleys, ridges, beech forests, upland meadows, and rocky peaks.

At center stage stand the two giants: Sasso Simone and Sasso Simoncello, limestone rock towers rising between earth and sky like ancient sentinels.

Once sacred places, today they are symbols of a profound harmony between humans and nature. The view from above is one of those gifts that stay with you. All around, the landscape shifts between gentle hills and rugged outcrops, cultivated fields and oak and beech woods, wild animals and traces of human presence that have learned to coexist with respect.

The summit of Mount Carpegna, at 1,415 metres, is the highest point in the park, a natural watershed between the Foglia Valley, the Marecchia Valley, and the Conca Valley. From here, on clear days, your gaze reaches all the way to the Adriatic Sea. The park continually invites you to walk its trails, shaped by time and the footsteps of those who came before us. To pause among the trees, to recognise the scents of the seasons, to be surprised by a roe deer crossing the path or the slow glide of a buzzard overhead. Small, welcoming, each with its own rhythm, these villages are guardians of ancient stories and knowledge. Discovering them means understanding that the landscape is not only nature, but also culture, memory, and community.

At Mu.Mont, we believe that the Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello is a place that teaches. It reminds us that you don’t need to travel far to lose yourself in wonder, you just need to walk with respect, look with attention, and listen with gratitude.
