More Than a Mountain Bike Route: A Rite of Passage into the Wild Heart of Montefeltro
The Granfondo MTB “Il Carpegna mi basta” is a 42 km loop with a 1,700-meter elevation gain: numbers that already reveal its demanding nature, yet they cannot fully capture the beauty that accompanies every pedal stroke.
The ride begins at the foot of Monte Carpegna, the symbolic mountain of these lands, chosen by cycling champion Marco Pantani as the testing ground for his hardest training sessions. The event’s very name, taken from his famous words “Il Carpegna mi basta” (“Carpegna is enough for me”), is an invitation to challenge yourself on climbs that give no respite and descents that open the gaze to boundless landscapes.
The trail alternates between shaded forest stretches—where the scent of beech and oak accompanies your breath—and panoramic ridges offering 360° views: the Sasso Simone and Simoncello Park, rolling hills descending toward the Adriatic, and ancient villages scattered across the landscape like beacons of memory. Every climb is a physical challenge, every curve a surprise: a panorama opening wide, a village appearing in the distance, a clearing that invites you to slow down.
Mu.Mont invites you to ride this trail with respect and inner slowness, even when fatigue presses on. It is not just a sporting route: it is a journey that stays within you, a memory steeped in sweat, freedom, and infinite horizons.
